Let me try this in a different way. If a cardiologist refers to an ep doc in same practice for an opinion, i bill consult (unless its a medicare pt).

Other example: Patient referred by cardiologist to ep for debif maganement. (same practice) new patient?

Any suggestions would be great.

In scenario 1, consult would be correct, but check with your payers as quite a few have discontinued these codes.

In scenario 2, since it is the same practice, but different specialties would be a new patient to the EP physician.
