If a patient is seen in the ER and then taken to surgery to repair a wound injury and then at some point admitted to the hospital is the surgery billed as an ER place of service or inpatient?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Admit overrides ER if same day, I would charge admitt with a 57 modifier and the sx code

Except the ER doc can charge his/her ER visit...unless s/he was the provider who took the patient to surgery...unlikely.

Agree, I was speaking from the specialty provider office, ER Dr can charge his ER visit
