Can more than one physician billed for an ER code (99281-99285)? This is not from same practice. I couldn't locate information any where.
 
Per CMS guidelines yes, more than one provider can use those codes. I don't know about other payers. CMS addresses this in the most recent MLNs regarding the discontinuation of consult codes. I'm sure it is other places but that is probably the most current info.
