A person is seen in the ER for chills. A gastroenterologist is called to see the pt because the pt has pancreatic cancer. However the pt is being seen and treated at another hospital. He only came to this hospital's ER because of his chills. How is this coded by the consulting gastroenterologist?

It is not a consult it is a referral from the ER physician for a known problem. Code it as an ER encounter or if admitted an admit H&P.
