ER day one, then admitted day two, H&P doc. on day one

If physician seen pt and documented the H&P admission on day one. The hospital has the patient as status of ER for day one. Then Day 2 is actual date of admission and a procedure is done. How do you bill for the H&P on day one? Also do I put the date of hospitalization on the ailment starting at day one (ER status) or Day two (admit status).
