I'm wondering if someone could help me out with this note, patient presents to ER with infected, non-healing 3rd degree burn to forearm, 3% body surface. He was burned 5 days ago when chemicals splashed on him @ work. Pt. did not seek medical care until today. The physician performed an excisional debridement of the skin and sub Q tissue of the leg w/o anesthesia and applied a dressing.
 
read your guidelines for the dx code.. the burn guidelines are very well written. In short non healed burns are coded as acute. For the CPT code got to the burn excision debridement codes
