Can you please help clarify a question - we have a patient that had a CPT code - 50590 - ESWL?
According to the paperwork at the time of the treatment the doctor decided to shock each stone separately located on the same side, one located in the kidney and one located in the ureter, is this able to be coded possibly with a modifier to receive separate reimbursement for each treatment (stone in Kidney and stone in Ureter)? Does these stones being located in separate quadrants (upper and lower quadrant) change the way this can be coded?

Any help you can provide would be very helpful.
