I was wondering if any facility coders would have any insight on how they bill for examination under anesthesia. We have a male patient w/ Severe MR/Autism who had an examination under general anesthesia of his abdomen, phallus, and testis. Would it be appropriate to bill the unlisted code of 55899 for this procedure? Any insight on how facilities code and bill for these circumstances when examinations are being performed under anesthesia would be greatly appreciated.
