any suggestions on what to study for the compliance exam and what is allowed to take with you for the exam thanks

Any published references are allowed, except AAPC Study Guides and any published references by HCCA.

I recommend reviewing the list of medical compliance resources provided on the AAPC website. Each contains a link to a wealth of information.

You may take a notebook with anything you print out. In my opinion, you should organize it well. I used dividers and kept everything neat. Be prepared to show your binder to the proctor. He or she will go through it to make sure you are not hiding anything and to make sure you only have allowable published references.

Take a few pencils and a good eraser.

Do your best!
