I need some help in coding a Aortotomy: Per the physician he did not do anything but look with a dental mirror. Nothing else was done. He replaced the mitral valve and on the tricuspid valve he did a leaflet repair and removed vegetation. He looked at the aortic valve to make sure that the abscess was not in the aortic valve. Would this be incidental or is there a cpt code for this. I could not find one since there was nothing done.
 
Was this all done in the same session as the MV repair? If so, I would consider his exam of the aortic valve included within.
