I need help regarding the excision of a cyst on the breast. The cyst was 6mm in subcutaneous tissue. The excision did not go into what the surgeon considers breast tissue, thereofore she wants to use 114xx not 191xx codes.
Does the 114xx codes which include trunk have an exclusion written somewhere which excludes breast location. I always considered the breast part of the trunk. Any written reference is appreciated because the hospital is not being paid because they are billing 191xx and we preauthorized 114xx. Out surgeon does not want to change the code because she did not excise breast tissue.
