Excisions, Repairs, and "separately reported"

When coding for Excision of lesions (11640 - 11646) cpt states : "Repair by intermediate or complex closure should be reported separately".....so if CPTs are: 11640, 12051....should it be coded as: 11640, 12051-51,59??

Im confused when it states "separately reported" if a modifier 59 should be applied??

You only need the -51 on the 12051. This is not bundled into the 11640 so no need to add the -59 to unbundle it. Hope that helps
