pt had previous laparotomy earlier by surgeon . now my surgeon came and did exp laparotomy, debridement of peripancreatic fat necrosis and drainage of lesser sac and abdo cavity plus placement of VAC abdo drains for open abdomen.

would 49002, 48105 and 97597 ?? be the codes . Pls advise

Need op note

For an accurate response to surgical coding questions, please post the scrubbed operative / procedure note(s).

49002 and 48105 are usually considered bundled, though with clear documentation you MAY be able to append a modifier.

The placement of wound VAC dressing at the end of an open procedure is virtually always considered global to the procedure. Subsequent wound VAC dressing changes can be separately reported (don't forget your modifier).

Hope that helps.
