I need some advice, please.

My surgeon replaced an aortic valve with a bioprosthesis, but first, after the patient was put on bypass, he did an exploration of the mitral valve, but no repair on the MV. Would 35761 be appropriate for the exploration of the mitral valve?:

"We first explored the mitral valve given the intraoperative findings of an elevated gradiant at rest. Findings were as described. There was no need to perform a commissurotomy as the valve opening was entirely normal. The left atriotomy and septal incision were closed with running 4-0 Prolene.
"The aortic valve was exposed via a hockey-stick type incision. . . "

Thank you for any help in coding this,
Karen Hill, CPC, CPB, CPMA
