Please tell me how to code this procedure : Pt is 5 weeks pregnant and she has a Hemoperitoneum due to a ruptured bleeding ovarian cyst. Physician performs an exploratory laparotomy and finds the ruptured cyst and sutures the raw edges and establishes hemostasis. He then begins to clear out the hemoperitoneum with irrigation and suction. The hemoperitoneum was approximately 750cc. Everything I look for in the removal of hemoperitoneum is laparoscopic and this is an open procedure. Can anyone please help I need to get this coded asap.

I believe the evacuation of the hemoperitoneum would be included in your other surgical procedure--the suturing of the ruptured cyst. The blood from the abdominal cavity has to be evacuated so I think it would be considered bundled; or you could try an unlisted code for that procedure. Good luck.
