do you need to use an external cause code if the dx is leg pain? it doesnt prompt you in the encoder, so i dont use external cause codes. right or wrong?

If you look at the beginning of the M chapter there is a note to use additional external cause codes if applicable. Therefore if an external cause is documented then I would code it.
