When billing for Eye e/m codes 92002-92014 there are no specific history or medical decision making guidelines for these codes. There are 13 specialty exam elements that must be documented to validate a coding level. But if you are coding for a consultation would you follow the eye e/m guidelines or would you use the E/M guidelines for history, mdm and the eye specialty exam ?

Thank you

If you are using the consult codes 99241-99245 or 99251-99255 you have to use the E/M documentation guidelines.
