Hi, I'm a new coder working in BH. I am getting a denial on 90837 from Passport Advantage. They state F41.8 (anxiety with depression) is not a good DX for that code. Would anyone know why that is?
I'm the only coder at my facility and dont have much guidance.

It may simply be an error on the part of the insurance company. This is worth a call to see if it can be easily fixed by the rep. If it's not that, and the rep can't tell you/doesn't know the reason for the denial, ask to speak to someone who can help you. (They say they don't and never would, but I am convinced that insurance companies randomly deny claims in the hope that no one will follow-up.)

This diagnosis is an acceptable diagnosis according to the LCD. I would appeal this stating that according to CMS this is an acceptable diagnosis.
