Our physician attempted to perform a Thermachoice ablation on a patient IN OFFICE, but when he began, the pt. had a large fibroid at the opening of the cervix. He decided to proceed with removal of the fibroid, and performed a myomectomy, and did not proceed with the ablation.
When we billed the myomectomy, it was denied because the place of service was the Office instead of Outpatient Hospital.
Any ideas on how we should code this? The Thermachoice device was not used, so that code can not be used. We're not sure how to make sure the provider's time and effort can be properly reimbursed.
