I really need assistance! Our physicians are all employed by our hospital, who will soon be employing a hospitalist as well. One of my family physicians believes that he can co-manage hospital care on his patient along with the hospitalist. For example: He admits for cellulitis and follows this condition, patient develops atrial fib and he requests the hospitalist consult and follow that condition. They both would be treating the patient for separate conditions. Personally, I don't see how a Hospitalist and Family Physician can co-manage a patient, I believe that both will end up addressing all patient conditions as their disciplines are identical.
