Coding a CT of the abdomen my collegue and I come across a debate.... The wording in the report is "... with findings of fatty infiltration...", now would you use 573.8 OR 571.8.

Simple confusion, just want to know what everone else thinks!

fatty liver vs infiltration

Under infiltrate,infiltration: liver 573.8 but there is a notation under that "fatty-see Fatty liver". When you see that listing the code is 571.8.
According to my teacher, always trust the alphabetic index.
I've been coding Diagnostic Radiology for 10 yrs.
