Pt came in with bean bag bean in ear. Dr tried unsuccessfully to remove with three diff approachs. He then sent directly to ent. He wants to charge 69200. I think we should bill an e/m since ent will be charging for removal since we couldnt get it out. Any thoughts please?? Thanks

For an accurate response to procedural coding, please post the scrubbed procedure note.

If the physician performed and documented the work - even if unsuccessful - he can stil code for it. Dependingon documentation might be appropriate to use a -52 modifier to signify reduced service.
