Can anyone tell us the correct way to code the following scenario:
When the doctor is just checking the placement of the feeding tube, we used to code V58.89 for this. But someone else has told us to use 783.3 and I am not sure if that is truly appropriate.

What do you think?
 
I think NOT. There is no rational for using 783.3 and it is not documented in the patients chart. I say use V53.50 I think it fits this scenario.
