Can you bill for a femoral artery cutdown if you're not implanting a prosthesis? The doctor performed angioplasty, stent and embolectomy. If we can't bill for a cutdown, what code would we use?

Thank you!

Where was the stent/angioplasty performed? Take a look at 37220 - 37231. Those include both open and percutaneous access. For embolectomy, I would look at 34001 - 34203, if aterial.

I would look at CCI to see if you can bill the cutdown, 34812, but the description does say, "for delivery of Endovascular prosthesis."
