Quick question, Fetal Demise, 18 weeks discovered in office. Patient admitted to hospital, induction with Misoprotol (oral) followed by Pitocin (IV). Family Medicine Doctor (my doc) delivered fetus. Complications presented and OB/GYN called in for surgical intervention (placenta removal).
I feel it is appropriate to charge for the two individual office visits prior to this visit. My problem comes in coding the induction/delivery. As it is not appropriate to charge for delivery prior to 20 weeks, and the only induced abortions listed in the CPT are for 1) intra-amniotic injections 2) vaginal suppositories, do I only bill 99201-99233? Any input is greatly appreciated!
