I have an ethical issue/legal issue I need some help on. We accept MCR assignment, however, we do not accept new MCR patients as a policy. I was recently informed that some of my providers will "fire" a patient once they begin receiving MCR because they don't want the hassle of dealing with MCR guidelines. I said that unless that provider does not see any patient with MCR, whether MCR is primary or secondary, this would be ok. However, these "firings" are random and not a general policy. Is this legal? If not, I need documentation to back it up.

Everything in my gut and my brain tell me this is both wrong and illegal!
