How do I code for a fistula catheter placement?

Dr. used a rigid sigmoidoscope to attempt to advance a 6-French pediatric catheter through the sigmoidoscope. It didn't advance. She then advanced a 5-French feeding tube through the sigmoidoscope, the sigmoidoscope was removed and the cather was taped to the thigh.

Thank you for any help.

I wonder if you could consider that as a seton placement.

The definition in 2010 General Surgery Coding Companion book for Seton states, "Seton- Finely spun thread or other fine material for leading the passage of wider instruments through a fistula, canal, or sinus tract."

The description you gave sounds like the same idea as a seton (46020), but your doctor used a different type of material. (catheter)
