Does anyone else test for multiple Flu types? We test for two types and bill two 87804's, one with a 59 modifier. The problem we have is not with reimbursement or the insurance company, it's the patients and parents who call complaining we billed them twice for a flu test.

Does anyone else have this problem and how do you handle it?

Thank you

We also bill for multiple flu tests as you stated in your post. I have had a couple of patients call asking if they have been billed twice for the same test. I explain to them that we are testing for 2 different strains of the flu; therefore, there are 2 separate charges--one for each test.

I hope this helps!
