There is some confusion in the office about billing for the flu shot. Can you bill a nurse visit, the shot and admin fee???

Or should we only bill the shot and admin fee??

Please help!!!!

Shot and Admin fee only.

If the patient is seen for a separate service [/COLOR]by the MD/ or a nurse, and the documentation supports the billing of an E/M then you could bill- with a mod 25. (Which for a nurse visit would be 99211 - which would need appropriate documentation to meet the guidelines to bill)

But if the patient comes only for a flu shot, just admin and vaccine.

I work at a Pediatric office and originally we were billing for admin and shot then we were told we could bill for nurse visit, admin, and shot which is what we are currently doing. So now I am completely confused and don't know what we should being doing........

Per CCI edits, Code 99211 is a component of Column 1 code 90471 and cannot be billed using any modifier. So if you bill 99211(nurse visit) you cannot bill 90471 (administration). If you bill 90471 you cannot bill 99211.
