How do you feel about this?

I work in a family practice and we are offering flu shots to everyone, even if your not our patient-however we are not documenting the shots given to the non-established patient (similar to going to the supermarket etc). Should there be documentation for legal purposes?

We offer flu clinics in our area and some of the patients have never been seen in our office. We have the patients sign a consent sheet that also has some question on it plus a spot for the medical assistant to put the lot number and supplier name and we keep that for documentation purposes. I would think that some form of documentation would need to be done.

Hope this helps.

@mhicks00: can you tell me what place of service code you use when providing flu clinics off site? Or do you bill using your clinic information as if the patient came into the office? I am not clear how the billing works on this. Thanks
