Wiki Fluoroscopic Technician - HELP!!!!!

I work in a blling services office, and my boss (the owner) wants to take on a Radiological/Fluoroscopic Technician to bill his services. This potential client is specifically requested by a surgeon (and there can be up to 8 surgeons in his "pool") for his fluoroscopic technician skills (i.e. Lithotripsy) and the surgical procedure is done at an ASC.

I have explained that billing insurance for his services is not doable because he is not the supervising/interpretive physician and he does not own the equipment.

So now we are arguing about why NPI numbers were opened to Radiology. I say it is because of the new Radiology facilities springing up who use technicians.

Someone out there please tell me I am not crazy!!!!!
