If a patient comes in for a follow up/complaint later on the same day and his complaint was that there was no change from his previous visit earlier, do I just code the DX without an E/M? To my understanding, you can not bill 2 visits for one DOS.

Please help! :)
 
Combine the visits

Since you can only charge for one E/M service per day, we will combine the services together to determine the proper level.
 
Ok, so how about if a patient comes back for a follow up 2 weeks after for eczema with slight improvement, different physician - would you add an E/M?

This is a new visit, new DOS - doesn't matter which physician - this would have it's own E/M service separate from the previous visit two weeks ago.

Unless I am misunderstanding your question....:confused:
