How many days from the discharge date can the physician bill for the post hospital visit?
All suggestions are appreciated

Next day if applicable. The only reason he wouldn't be able to bill is if that doctor had performed a surgery with a global period.

Hi Linda thanks for responding...Wow I thought we would have more time than that.

We are opening a discharge clinic and are trying to setup some protocals for setting the appointments.

If your clinic is owned by the facility I would check with your local carriers. We have to adhere to the 72 hour rule and its been recently clarified (Noridian here) that it doesnt have to be the same ICD9 that it can be a related condition/diagnosis and will be denied within that time period.....of course who are we to say what's related and what's not?
