I have a question about retained foreign body? Everything I am reading is stating that it is a surgical item that is left behind after surgery. We have a pt that was shot with a BB and it was embedded under his skin near his eye. The doctor completed a removal of embedded foreign body. We are trying to find the best code to use. I was thinking we should use S05.41XA and the doctor was thinking of using H02.811. Can someone please help us decided which code is the best. We didnt do anything else. All the doctor did was remove the foreign body under general anesthesia. Thank
