Provider used a flexible sigmoidoscopy to remove a foreign body from patient's rectum. Patient had general anesthesia. 45332 is flex sig with removal of foreign body. Or should I use 45915 removal of fecal impaction or foreign body (separate procedure) under anesthesia. What would the separate procedure be?

If in fact the provider did a flex sig, you would use 45332. The procedure code 45915 is for fecal disimpaction. Often this is done in ER under anesthesia. These are two completely different things. I hope this helps.

Thanks that is what I thought. The description in my coding book lists 45915 as "Removal of fecal impaction or foreign body (Separate procedure) under anesthesia"

Not only fecal impaction.
