How are you billing for vaccines if the patient does not see the provider?

Bill admin and vaccines, no E/M code.

Thanks

I highly suggest for the pt to be seen by a physician for the initial visit regardless if it's a series vaccines or not, with the exception on Flu Vaccine. You may bill an E&M along w/ the Preventative Counseling Code (add mod 25). Commercial carriers do pay well on both CPTs plus the vaccine itself. Then any series after that, the patient does not need to be seen by the physician if it's for the same vaccine.
If not seen by a provider, you can only bill for the admin & the vaccine itself. Hope that helps!!

If a pt does not have a face to face encounter, the vaccines as well as labs done in house have to be written off. The will be included in your cost report at the end of the year.
