I have a swingbed patient that was transferred here from an acute stay at another hospital. She has bilateral humeral head fractures and second-degree burns on less than 10% of her TBSA. What is the time limit for dx's on fractures (i.e. healing, acute treatment, etc.)? Is it still considered acute since she is here for "deconditioning" and rehab for those fractures? I know there are healing fracture codes, etc. but when do you use those in place of the acute codes? I know with CVA patients, the SWB is considered "late effects" because the "acute care" is considered to be over. Is it the same with fracture codes?

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that during her acute stay at the other hospital, she had ORIF on one shoulder and internal prosthesis in the other. I am not sure if that really matters or not, just wanted to put it out there.
