I have a question regarding a Home Health account that I was coding on a patient that had a slow-healing wound of a periprosthetic implant fracture. The fracture itself is healing routinely, but the skin and subcutaneous tissue is slowly healing. Here's the question...would I use the "G" for the 7th character to capture the fracture code or would I use a "D" since that part is routinely healing, and use the T81.89XD for the skin complication. It is not dehisced or disrupted just slow healing. We are trying to figure this out.
Thanks for any help out there! Much appreciated.

I think an easy way to remember which to use is to think that "A" stands for active treatment.

Did the provider treat the condition during the visit? If yes, then choose A. If the condition is present but not treated then choose D.

I hope it helps!

Thank you all for your responses....I figured I was right that the D was for the routine healing and the G should not be used since the fracture itself was healing and the complication was the skin issue... I appreciate all your help!
