Hi,
I have a doubt regarding the frozen section CPTs 88331 & 88332. My pathology report states,
1. "BLADDER NECK":
"No tumor seen"

2. "PROSTATE VERSUS LEFT PEDICLE":
"Benign prostatic tissue with attached blood vessels and nerves."

Should i code this report 88331X2 since the frozen section is obtained from two different specimen or elso as 88331,88332.Please advice.

The unit of service is by the specimen. A single frozen section examined and diagnosed on one specimen is 88331 x1. If a second frozen section is examined and diagnosed, it is coded 88332 (88331 x1 and 88332 x1). Two frozen sections examined and diagnosed from two different specimens is most accurately reported as 88331 X2.
