Anyone out there have any information on Anthem Medicare not accepting G codes for influenza vaccine or pneumococcal vaccine? Many thanks! (Sorry...I meant G0008)

If the patient has Medicare primary, typically they pay the flu shot with no co-insurance left to the patient. If the patient has a Medicare replacement policy with BCBS, they should follow Medicare guidelines. I bill these all the time with my family practice and haven't seen any issues. The only other reason I could think they may deny the code is if the patient has already received a flu shot for that calendar year?

Hope that helps. (Gotta love arguing with BCBS reps) :D
