Can I bill for my diabetes provider to see a patient in the morning in her office for the patient's followup visit and then for the patient to attend a diabetes education class in the afternoon? So I would be billing for a 99213 or 99214 AND G0109. Will Medicare pay for that? I don't see any edits that state they cannot be billed together but that doesn't mean they can. I have been looking in the Medicare manual and cannot find this specific scenario. Anyone have any experience with this?

In my opinion, you can bill both 99213/99214 and G0109 on the same day provided E/M was significant, separately identifiable and medically necessary.
E/M should not be for Diabetes self management training referral.
Modifier 25 should be appended to E/M code.
