Has anyone billed a G2212 with MH outpatient code (90837) and had success? The billing guide and SERI list the E/M codes as billable with the add-on but since we lost the prolonged services codes 99354 and 99355, the G2212 is the only option for our practice. Currently I'm getting denials saying that the G2212 cannot be billed by itself when it is being billed with the 90837. I've appealed and currently waiting for a response but curious if others are having the same issue with MH codes.

The G2212 ( Some payors require 99417 in place of the G code ) has to be billed with a max level E&M code such as 99215 , 99245, 99345, 99350 in order to be paid. I do not think you can use the G2212 for additional time with the 90837. However some payors are now allowing 2 units for the 90837 to be billed.
