Hi,
I have a provider using a Gardus Overtube with the therapeutic endoscope. The reason he affixed the Overtube was to facilitate evacuation of blood and clots in the esophagus and stomach. There was actively bleeding Mallory Weiss tear. Control of bleeding was done. My question is...is there a CPT code for the Gardus Overtube or would you just append a 22 modifier. Thank you

I agree with you. There is no code for Guardus Overtube and description of modifier -22 is to reflect additional work that is not typically part of the procedure, but does not qualify for its own procedure code. So bill the appropriate endoscopy code with modifier 22 and just confirm documentation clearly supports it.
