How is gender reassignment coded? Are the codes 55970 and 55980 assigned or individual codes for each component of the procedure? Such as, changing a male to a female - would these procedures be assigned their specific codes: amputation of penis, clitoroplasty, vaginoplasty, gonadectomy; or are they inclusive in the code 55970?
