We have a general surgeon who is part of our family practice. when he sees a patient he marks it as a new patient cpt code. We do not use consultation codes as Medicare and some BS will not pay that. Is this correct prodecure, even though he is in family practice.
Obviously if the consult involves immediate surgery this is not a question, but most surgeries are scheduled colonoscopies and are done so 10 days later. thanks for any help
