Our Perinatology clinic just hired a genetics counselor. In our State, she can't be credentialed with alot of the insurance companies, so I am wondering if there is any out there who is familiar with this problem. I am holding her charges until I can figure it out. Do you bill out the 96040 charge or should I bill a consultation under the physician NPI... Just need some direction. The counselor said some genetic clinics are billing through the hospital rather than a professional fee??? Help.
