I have a question inreference to the gestation code for OB patients. My co-worker and I need clarification on when to use the gestation code. One of us thinks based on the ICD10 books that it is only used with the complication codes beginning with the letter O. The other one thinks it is used with every code. We cannot find a clear answer and we both seem to read the books differently.

Please give clarity on this if anyone can..:).

It is a chapter instruction to use the Z3A codes with all O codes. There is no guideline or instruction or convention to add the Z3A code to the Z codes for supervision.
