I work in a sleep clinic and the docs are looking to get reimbursement for the time our sleep lab manager spends fitting and training patients with their cpap masks. Patients are either seen the same day as the visit with the doctor and sometimes days later. We are wondering if anyone else is doing this and if you have found a code that will work for this scenerio. We've looked at 98960 but are unsure. Any insight would be great. Thanks.

The code to bill is 94660. I've been researching the documentation part of it. Can you share how you are documenting her service. In our office we have a respiratory therapy that spends 1 hour with the patient. You can bill this code as many times as needed based on the pts needs. However, it can not be billed on the same day as the E&M service. Hope this helps. :)

CPT code 94660 requires that the physician personally perform face-to-face patient care, such as fitting the mask and titrating pressure. It applies to the initial evaluation or application of CPAP. you may not use it as many times as you need.
for education and training for patient self management by non provider staff look at 98960.
