My question pertains to global surgery codes. We have a multi specialty practice. Both Dermatology and Plastic Surgery.
If the patient see the Plastic surgeon for breast reconstruction and during the global period the patient sees one of our Dermatology providers for a suspicious lesion that was biopsied. Are the E/M and biopsy services in the global period for the plastic surgery. Both providers under the same tax ID#.
Thanks

The biopsy is unrelated to the surgery for the breast reconstruction. You may have to append a modifier 79 to the biopsy eventhough you should not have to. It depends on the carrier and how their computer recognizes the Tax ID# with multispecialists.
