The pediatric endocrinologist that I work for has asked me the correct way to bill when a patient comes in for a GnRH Stim Test.
The patient comes into the office, my physician does a basic exam; then the nurse inserts an I.V and draws the base labs. After that, the nurse injects Lupron subcutaneously. Labs are drawn from the I.V every 30 minutes for 2 hours. Once the 2 hours in up the patient is ready to go home. My physician only sees the patient during the and after the test if a problem has occurred. I understand that the face to face time maybe 10 minutes so I'm not for sure if maybe a code is available for non face to face time. I've researched and I can't find anything to help with this.
Her question is: Can she just bill a prolonged office visit and not bill for the the I.V, injection or medicine. Or should she just bill for the I.V injection and medicine? Any help will be greatly appreciated!
